SUMMER-LIKE HEAT CONTINUES WITH INCREASE IN DEW POINTS AND
LIGHT WESTERLY FLOW….
Today feels similar to yesterday, though a tad more warm as
dew points have been a bit warmer. This morning we were under
scattered cirrus clouds and have increased to more cirrus
throughout the morning and afternoon, but we still have had
plenty of sunshine out there.
Temperatures overnight only dropped to around 60F. So with high
pressure, all day sunshine and light winds, temperatures were
quick to climb today. The first observation was near 69F and by
the final observation we hit 86F. Fortunately, dew points have
fluctuated a bit, but have still been in the mid to upper 50s,
giving a feel of a midsummer day instead of early June.
Winds were out of the west-northwest and northwest for much of
the early half of the day before shifting more westerly in the
afternoon hours. Winds have been on the light side with some
smaller breezes in the 10-15mph range. The average speed for
the day so far is around 9mph. The peak gust so far for the day
is 19mph, which occurred just after 1pm this afternoon.
Visibility has been limited for yet another day today due to the
high pollen count. The view started at around 40 miles early this
morning, but has lowered to around 35 miles by late this morning
and through the early afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 86F degrees, which is
14 degrees above the normal high of 72F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 60F degrees, which is 6 degrees above the
normal low of 54F.
