A VERY PLEASANT DAY WITH SUNSHINE, SEASONABLE TEMPERATURES, AND A
GENTLE BREEZE….
An area of high pressure centered over south-central Ontario is
gradually building toward the region. A stationary front extends
from coastal Georgia northeastward through the Atlantic well to
the southeast of New England. Weak waves of low pressure are
riding this front off the North Carolina coast. Another weak
area of low pressure is located northeast of Maine over Atlantic
Canada.
Locally, our weather is currently being dominated by the building
high pressure area. As such a very lovely day is in progress with
plenty of sunshine and light wind.
Temperatures once again started on the chilly side early this
morning with a low in the mid 40s! They have rebounded nicely
into early this afternoon with readings reaching the mid 70s!
Dew point values have been generally in the mid 40s through the
day, so humidity levels are very comfortable for this time of
year.
Winds are on the lighter side today as well as variable at times.
Overall however, the dominant wind direction has been north-
northwest so far for the day. The average speed for the day so
far is around 9mph. The peak gust so far for the day is 21mph,
which occurred just after 1am this morning.
Visibility started the day decent at around 60 miles, but it has
decreased during the day as pollen levels increase. The view by
early this afternoon is only around 40 miles.
The maximum temperature so far today is 75F degrees, which is
4 degrees above the normal high of 71F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 45F degrees, which is 8 degrees below the
normal low of 53F.
