RECORD WARM TEMPERATURES TODAY UNDER SUNNY SKIES….
High pressure continues to be anchored near Bermuda meanwhile
a ridge aloft has built over the region bringing a very summerlike
air mass with it. A weak shortwave over New York State is
progressing toward New England this afternoon and is sparking a
few showers and thunderstorms.
Here locally, sunshine continues to the theme today with some mid
and high level clouds floating by this morning, and now some
cumulus starting to pop up early this afternoon. With the hot
temperatures and moderate humidity levels, it’s not a great day
for any extraneous outdoor activities.
Temperatures have reached the mid 90s here at Blue Hill and has
set a new record high for the date. The previous record was 91F
set back in 1962. Dew point values have reached the mid to upper
60s which is quite humid. Heat index values are approaching in
the upper 90s early this afternoon, and as such a Heat Advisory
is in effect for the area.
Winds have been steady through the day out of mainly the southwest
to west-southwest. The average speed for the day so far is around
13mph. The peak gust so far for the day is 26mph, which occurred
just before noon-time.
Visibility has been limited again today due to haziness, likely
due to the higher humidity. The view has been stuck between 20-30
miles all day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 95F degrees, which is
27 degrees above the normal high of 68F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 65F degrees, which is 16 degrees above the
normal low of 49F.
