BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2026
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0423E
SUNSET: 1859E
CONTINUED COOL TEMPS WITH FOGGY CONDITIONS TODAY….
This morning featured the shortest sunrise ever before being
blanketed behind a thick layer of clouds for much of the day.
Foggy conditions continued throughout much of the day with an
occasional dim sunlight attempting to get through. It’s been
dry during the observation period though. The total rain that
fell at the observatory yesterday was 0.26 inches.
Although the overnight low was equal to seasonable, the highs for
the day have struggled a bit. Temperatures have remained steady in
the low to mid 50’s with dew points in the same range. This is about
10 degrees below normal for this time of year. With the persistent
fog and spot shower, it feels quite damp and raw today. Fortunately,
the light wind has taken some of the bite out of the air.
Winds transitioned from the gusty south-southeast early yesterday
to a lighter (and colder) northwest flow by the evening. Since then,
winds have been light and somewhat variable, though out of the north
for the most part. Winds have only averaged around 6mph for the day
so far. The peak gust so far for the day is 19mph, which occurred
just before 11:30am this morning.
Visibility has been pretty poor today due to the low cloud deck
and foggy conditions. Visibility has varied between 10 and 30
miles throughout the day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 55F degrees, which is
12 degrees below the normal high of 67F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 48F degrees, which is equal to the normal low
of 48F.
