SUNSHINE EARLY THIS AFTERNOON….
We had a wintry start to the day with some light snow developing
between 6-7am. Off and on snow showers continued into the late
morning hours before mixing with rain and coming to an end.
A period of dry weather, including some partial sunshine was
observed during the lunch hour. As we progressed through the
early afternoon, more showers had developed around the area as
we approached the 1pm observation. A squall passed through just
after 2pm bringing a brief period of heavy rain changing to snow
with it.
Temperatures started the day in the mid 30s, but recovered
nicely to the upper 40s late this morning into early this
afternoon. It has now fallen back into the mid 30s following
the passage of the squall. Dew point values started the day
in the mid to upper 20s, but gradually rose to the mid 30s by
late this morning, where it has remained since.
Winds have generally been on the light side most of the day so
far. A southeasterly flow this morning has shifted to the north-
west early this afternoon. The average speed for the day so far
is only 8mph, but it’ll likely increase later this afternoon and
especially this evening. The peak gust for the day so far is
38mph, which occurred just after 2pm this afternoon as the squall
moved through.
Visibility has been variable today due to the snow, rain, and fog
this morning. And again early this afternoon with the developing
showers in the area. The view has been as high as 30 miles today,
but has at times varied between 2 miles to 15 miles during times
of falling precipitation.
The maximum temperature so far today is 50F degrees, which is
2 degrees below the normal high of 52F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 32F degrees, which is 3 degrees below the
normal low of 35F.
