A MUCH WARMER DAY TODAY WITH A MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUN….

A warm front passed through the region overnight bringing a
period of snow that amounted to 0.3″ of snow, and a touch
of very light rain early this morning. Despite there being
a lot of cloud cover today with sunshine mixing in at times,
it turned into quite a mild day with temperatures getting
above normal. I hope everyone enjoyed it as a rather potent
arctic blast is heading our way by later tomorrow.

Temperatures actually rose overnight, from the mid 20s during
the mid evening hours to the upper 30s by early this morning.
Readings continued to climb to the low to mid 40s by late
this morning and through this afternoon. It’s feels rather
nice in the sun, but the wind and lowering dew points reminds
us that it’s still winter. Dew point values which started the
day in the low 30s, has been gradually falling through the
20s as the day has progressed, an indication that a colder
air mass is starting to filter into the region.

The wind has been busy all day, starting out of a southerly
direction early this morning, gradually veering to the west
by late this morning. The average speed for the day so far
is around 17mph. Gusts have been frequently exceeding 30mph
this morning, with a peak so far of 38mph which has occurred
twice, once just before 12:20pm and again just before 2pm.

Visibility has been somewhat limited to around 30-40 miles
due to haziness most of the day, but has started to improve
late this afternoon as drier air works into the region.

The maximum temperature so far today is 43F degrees, which is
9 degrees above the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 32F degrees, which is 15 degrees above the
normal low of 17F.
