LAST DAY OF THE JANUARY THAW AND ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES TODAY….

Clouds have been the main theme since yesterday with even some
very light intermittent rain occurring at times last evening
into early this morning. The rain was so light, however, that only
a trace was left in the gauge. As we reached the mid to late
morning hours, clouds started to break allowing for some partial
sunshine. With the mild air mass still in place, it’s turned into
a fairly decent day, save for the increasing wind.

Temperatures are running well above normal again today, but this
will be the end of the road for the current thaw period. We didn’t
drop below 40F degrees overnight with a low of 41F. As such,
readings have risen nicely into the low 50s early this afternoon.
Dew point values have been in the low to mid 40s, so the air mass
has quite a bit of moisture in it, for now!

The wind was fairly steady out overnight into this morning, but
as mentioned, it has started to increase a bit as we push into
the early afternoon hours. A south to south-southwest flow has
been gradually veering around to more of a westerly direction.
The average speed for the day so far is around 13mph. Gusts are
starting to be more frequently between 25-30mph, with a peak gust
for the day so far of 32mph, which occurred just after 12:30pm.

Visibility has been quite limited today, first due to thin fog
during the morning, but now due to haziness early this afternoon.
The view has been held to between 10-35 miles all day.

The maximum temperature so far today is 51F degrees, which is
27 degrees above the normal high of 34F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 41F degrees, which is 23 degrees above the
normal low of 18F.
