ANOTHER CLIPPER BRINGS A TOUCH OF LIGHT SNOW THIS MORNING,
OTHERWISE CONTINUING THE THEME OF BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES….

A quick moving Alberta Clipper passed through the region this
morning bringing with it a few hours of light snow. 0.4″ of snow
accumulated from this system, which underscores just how light,
but steady the snow was. This melted down to 0.03″ of liquid, so
it was a “drier” snow than the standard 10:1 ratio.

The snow came to an end right around 10:30am this morning with
breaks developing in the cloud cover. A mix of sun and clouds
has been the theme since. More flurries are popping up however
as the heating of day is contributing to the convective process
as very cold air remains aloft.

Temperatures have pushed into the upper 20s to around 30F early
this afternoon. While still below normal, it is a nice reprieve
from the arctic chill that we experienced a couple of days ago.
Dew point values have been higher today as one would expect with
precipitation in the area. They were holding in the lower 20s
through the morning, but have now started to drop off a bit back
into the upper teens.

Another nice feature today is the lack of wind so far. A general
northwest to north-northwest flow has only been averaging at
around 7mph for the day so far. The peak gust so far is 20mph,
which occurred just after 12:40pm. Unfortunately, the wind will
be increasing later on as another arctic air mass moves into the
region.

Visibility started very limited this morning due to the snow,
it was generally under 3 miles before improving late this morning.
By early this afternoon the view is upto around 60 miles.

The maximum temperature so far today is 30F degrees, which is
6 degrees below the normal high of 36F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 21F degrees, which is 1 degree above the
normal low of 20F.
