THE BIGGEST SNOW EVENT OF THE SEASON SO FAR OCCURRED OVERNIGHT
INTO EARLY THIS MORNING; ANOTHER VERY WINTRY DAY WITH WELL BELOW
NORMAL TEMPERATURES….
A clipper system that slipped south of the region and redeveloped
off the coast brought a decent snowfall to the region overnight
into early this morning. 3.6″ of snow accumulated here on the
summit between 9pm and 7am. This melted down to 0.23″ of liquid,
giving a snow to water ratio of around 16:1. So it was definitely
a light fluffy snow.
Clouds lingered through the morning along with occasional
flurries, but have finally moved out early this afternoon with
sunshine taking over.
Temperatures are once again running well below normal today.
Readings were stuck in the teens through the morning hours, but
have finally reached the low 20s by early this afternoon. This is
still solidly around 15 degrees below normal for the date!
Thankfully, the wind hasn’t been a big deal today. The flow has
been out of the north averaging at around 11mph for the day so
far. Gusts have occasionally reached 20mph, but it hasn’t been
too frequent. The peak gust for the day so far is 23mph, which
occurred just after 8am this morning.
Visibility was limited this morning due to the snow, but has
improved markedly early this afternoon as everything clears out.
The view is up to around 60 miles early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 23F degrees, which is
14 degrees below the normal high of 37F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 14F degrees, which is 8 degrees below the
normal low of 22F.
