BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2025
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST)
SUNRISE: 0622E
SUNSET: 1633E
PLENTY OF SUNSHINE TODAY, BUT VERY WINDY FOLLOWING A FRONTAL
PASSAGE LAST EVENING….
A front moved through the area late last evening bringing
a band of moderate rain showers. This system was pretty
potent and brought small hail, thunder, and lightning to
some communities. Here on the Hill only rain was observed.
However everyone shared in strong gusty winds as the front
pushed through. 0.16″ of rain was measured from this
system, most of which falling in the same hour between
9-10pm.
Today strong cold air advection is taking place which is
helping to mix down a strong low-level jet aloft. Our front
it was attached to a developing low pressure system that is
currently bombing out well to our northeast, and will be
a very formidable storm system for Newfoundland. For us
here, we’re left with strong winds as a result of the
above mentioned low level jet and tight pressure gradient.
Temperatures are again near seasonable levels, but it feels
colder due to lower dew point levels and the gusty wind.
Readings have reached the mid 50s by early this afternoon,
but the wind chill makes it feel more like the mid 40s.
The dew point has been gradually falling as the cold air
advection continues. Values have fallen from the mid 30s
early this morning to the upper 20s by early this afternoon.
The wind has been the main story today. A west-northwest to
northwest wind has been averaging at around 21mph for the
day so far. Gusts have been frequently exceeding 40mph since
the mid morning hours. The peak gust so far for the day is
52mph, which occurred just before the 1pm observation.
Visibility is excellent today with a view of 70-80 miles
through the day!
The maximum temperature so far today is 54F degrees, which is
equal to the normal high of 54F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 42F degrees, which is 5 degrees above the
normal low of 37F.
