MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS TODAY WITH DRY AIR AND COMFORTABLE
TEMPERATURES….
Today has been a pretty spectacular Saturday with plenty of
sunshine mixed with some mainly fair weather cumulus clouds.
The air has dried out nicely following the cold frontal
passage late last evening. A brief rain shower did occurred
during the mid to late afternoon yesterday leaving only 0.06″
of rain in the gauge.
August is likely to finish with well below normal rainfall as
we’ve only had roughly half what is normally expected for the
month. The monthly deficit as of today is -1.80″!
Temperatures today are quite pleasant, especially for late
August. Readings, which started the day in the low 50s, have
recovered nicely into the low to mid 70s by early this afternoon.
This is a bit below normal for this time of year. The dew point
has dropped from the low to mid 50s this morning to the upper
40s early this afternoon, indicating a very dry air mass for
this time of year. Definitely a great day to be outdoors today!
The wind has been fairly steady out of the northwest and west-
northwest, but generally on the light side. The average for the
day so far is around 9mph. The peak gust for the day so far is
21mph, which occurred just after noon time.
Visibility has been excellent today thanks to the nice dry air.
The view has been generally 70-80 miles all day!
The maximum temperature so far today is 74F degrees, which is
4 degrees below the normal high of 78F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 52 degrees, which is 9 degrees below the normal
low of 61F.
