A BEAUTIFUL COOL, SUNNY START TO THE WEEKEND….
Today has been one of the top days of summer so far, with
cool air, below seasonable temperatures, and a gentle sea
breeze in the late morning and afternoon. The humidity
remains low and comfortable and it has felt more like an
early fall day than summer.
Temperatures are still below normal, but with the abundant
sunshine and low winds, it definitely feels warmer today
than yesterday. Overnight lows dipped down to 54F, which is
10 degrees cooler than average. Dew points have stayed in the
low to mid 50’s today, offering up some cooler and drier air.
It still feels very comfortable outside, especially for August.
The wind has been on the light side today, with a northwesterly
flow that later turned east-northeast as the sea breeze came
through. The average wind is only around 9 mph and our peak
gust of 18 mph occurred at 5:14am this morning.
Visibility has been exceptional today, with a 60-70 miles
range throughout the day. As the temperatures warmed, we
experienced less visibility, but we had 70 miles during the
early and mid morning hours.
The maximum temperature so far today is 75F degrees, which is
7 degrees below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 54F degrees, which is 10 degrees below the
normal low of 64F.
