HAZY, HOT, AND HUMID WITH ABUNDANT SUNSHINE ONCE AGAIN TODAY….
Sunshine has been the theme again today as the atmosphere is
still quite warm well up the column. Some cumulus have finally
started to form, indicating a very high convective temperature
(considering the surface temperatures are in the 90s). Some
cirrus clouds have been moving across the sky most of the day
as well, but much like yesterday, they’ve been rather thin and
not doing much to filter the sun at all.
Temperatures are hot once again with readings reaching the mid
90s early this afternoon. Thankfully, we likely won’t reach
the record high for today, which is 99F set in 1949. Dew point
values have been generally holding between the mid 60s to near
70F, so it is feeling humid out there this afternoon. Heat
index values are pushing near the 100F degree mark again today.
As such extreme caution should be used outdoors today.
The wind has been quite light into early this afternoon, even
going calm for a while. But it has picked up a bit of speed
after the 1pm observation. The direction was been quite
variable through the morning, but has seemingly settled out
of the west-southwest early this afternoon. The average speed
for the day so far is only around 7mph. The peak gust is 20mph
so far, which occurred around 2pm this afternoon.
Visibility has been limited again today due to haziness. The
view has been hanging around 30-35 miles for the day so far.
The maximum temperature so far today is 94F degrees, which is
12 degrees above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 73F degrees, which is 9 degrees above the
normal low of 64F.
