SUNSHINE RETURNS WITH DRIER WEATHER, BUT STILL COLD AND BRISK….

Sunshine has finally returned today with clear skies following a
few days of overcast skies with rain, sleet, and snow. However
cold and windy conditions remain today.

Temperatures are quite a bit below normal today with readings
starting the day in the mid 20s, and recovering only to the mid
40s by early this afternoon. The dew point is quite low for this
time of year with values in the teens, indicative of a polar air
mass over the region.

Winds are busy, but the trend has been for decreasing speed as
the day progresses. A mainly west-northwest wind has been averaging
at around 14mph for the day so far. Gusts were reaching over 30mph
for awhile this morning, but as mentioned, the trend has been for
slower speed into this afternoon. The peak gust for the day is
36mph, which occurred just after midnight, and again just before
8am.

Visibility is excellent today with the view around 60-70 miles all
day.

The maximum temperature for today is 44F degrees, which is 9 degrees
below the normal high of 53F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 24F degrees, which is 11 degrees below the normal low of 35F.
