CHILLY AS RAIN CONTINUES INTO EARLY THIS AFTERNOON….

The rain that started mid to late yesterday morning continued to
fall at varying intensities overnight, and now through early this
afternoon. 0.59″ of rain was measured through 7am this morning,
with an additional 0.10″ being measured between 7am and 1pm.

Of course with the rain has been overcast skies and dense fog here
on the summit (we’re technically in the clouds). The fog did
attempt to break for a time around the 10am observation, but
filled back in soon thereafter. However, the fog is attempting to
lift once again just ahead of the 1pm observation.

Temperatures remain on the cooler side, ever so slowly rising from
the mid to upper 30s early this morning to the mid 40s by early
this afternoon. This is below the expected readings for the date,
at least in terms of high temperature.

Winds remain on the light side, with the flow varying between
west-northwest and north-northwest. The average speed so far for
the day is only around 6mph. The peak gust to this point in the
day is 16mph, which occurred just after 6am.

Visibility has of course been limited today with the rain and fog
this morning keeping the view generally under 1 mile. With the fog
lifting again early this afternoon, the view has improved quite a
bit with the view reaching upwards to 25 miles.

The maximum temperature for today is 47F degrees, which is 5 degrees
below the normal high of 52F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 37F degrees, which is 3 degrees above the normal low of 34F.
