SUNSHINE AND A RETURN TO MORE SEASONAL TEMPERATURES….

Today has featured a gorgeous sky with mostly altocumulus off the
coast and some fair weather cirrus moving in during the early
afternoon. From the observation deck it appears that we are just
heading out of peak fall foliage, however, it is still quite a
beautiful landscape.

Temperatures dipped to 39.5F during the early morning hours, which
was the first time we were in below 40 territory since last Thursday.
The high pressure system has dominated our weather for quite some
time, which is partially to blame for the lack of precipitation as
well. The last four months have seen a deficit in our normal values
for precipitation, with this month currently at -3.69 inches. While
most people appreciate high and dry conditions, we desperately could
use some rain!

The wind was much more active during the overnight and early morning
hours before a shift from the NNW to an easterly flow took over the
area. The average speed for the day so far is around 9 mph, though
the last few hours it has been around 5 mph. The current peak gust
of 20 mph occurred just before 3am.

Visibility has been holding steady between 60-70 miles today thanks
in part to a dramatic drop in the dew points from yesterday.

The maximum temperature so far today is 59F, which is 1 degree above
the normal high of 58F. The minimum temperature since midnight is 47F,
which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 41F.
