WARM AND VERY HUMID AIR MASS REMAINS IN PLACE OVER THE AREA….
Clouds and thin fog dominated during the morning hours with a
few light rain showers very early this morning and a very light
drizzle that continued into the late morning hours. Clouds have
finally broken early this afternoon. The sun quickly went to
work allowing temperatures to rapidly rise into the mid 80s.
Dew point readings remain on the high side with readings
holding in the mid 70s, so the air mass continues to be on the
oppressive side. Despite the air temperature in the mid 80s
early this afternoon, the heat index is approaching the mid
90s thanks to the high humidity levels.
The wind has been busy all day with an average speed for the
day so far of around 17mph. Gusts have been frequently reaching
between 25-30mph today. The peak gust so far is 33mph, which
occurred just before the 1pm observation.
Visibility was quite limited this morning thanks to the thin
fog and drizzle with the view generally around 10 miles,
however it did dip to as low as 4 miles at times. The view has
improved early this afternoon to around 35 miles with general
haziness the theme now.
The maximum temperature so far today is 85, which is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 73F, which is 9 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
