MUCH COOLER AND BECOMING LESS HUMID WITH INCREASING SUNSHINE….
The heatwave has come to an end with today featuring a warm
and very humid start, then cooling off into the afternoon as
a brisk onshore flow took over. Varying amounts of cloud
cover was observed this morning, however with the stabilizing
effect of the onshore flow, the convective clouds have cleared
the area leaving us with mainly clear skies early this
afternoon.
Temperatures rose quickly into the low to mid 80s this morning,
but has since dropped back into the mid 70s thanks to the
refreshing ocean air infiltrating the area. The dew point,
which started the day in the low 70s, has dropped back into
the low to mid 60s, making for a much better feel to the air,
especially compared to yesterday.
The wind started the day on the light side, but has freshened
markedly since shifting to onshore. The average speed for
the day so far is around 10mph, although it’s been averaging
around 14-15mph for the past couple of hours. The peak gust
so far is 28mph, which occurred just after noon time.
Visibility has been limited once again today due to the
haziness. The view has been between 25-30 miles all day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 83F degrees, which is
6 degrees above the normal high of 77F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 68F, which is 8 degrees above the normal
low of 60F.
