ANOTHER VERY NICE DAY FOLLOWING EARLY MORNING FOG….

We have another very nice day in progress after early morning
dense fog burned off. Some high thin cirrus clouds are visible
to the distance east through south, part of a large intensifying
ocean storm well offshore. Some cirrus can also be seen to the
distant west as well, part of the next frontal system that will
impact the area tomorrow. Otherwise, sunshine has been the theme
today.

We had another chilly start to the day as well with readings
in the mid 30s early this morning. Temperatures have warmed
nicely into the low 60s early this afternoon however, making
for a fine spring day (especially for New England standards).
The dew point isn’t as low as yesterday, but its still on the
dry side with values falling into the low 30s.

The wind was fairly steady, but on the light side this morning,
mainly out of a south or south-southwest direction. However
as the diurnal heating maximizes early this afternoon, mixing
from aloft has caused the wind to increase in speed. The average
speed for the day to this point is around 9mph, but is trending
upwards in the last couple of hours. Gusts have been reaching
mainly between 20-25mph in the last couple of hours as well.
The peak gust so far today is 26mph, which occurred just after
11:30am.

Visibility has improved markedly from early this morning. The
view was at 1/4 mile or less, but reached up to 60 miles by mid
morning and continues at that value early this afternoon.

The maximum temperature so far today is 63F degrees, which is
3 degrees above the normal high of 60F. The minimum temperature
since midnight is 37F degrees, which is 4 degrees below the
normal low of 41F.
