FILTERED SUNSHINE THROUGH MAINLY HIGH CLOUDS, WINDY AND WARM
ONCE AGAIN HERE AT BLUE HILL…
The dry stretch of weather continues as we’ve not recorded any
rainfall in the last 6 days. The precipitation departure has
now slipping into a pretty sizable deficit for the month to
date, with us being more a 1.45″ below normal.
With the abnormally warm temperatures occurring this week, and
the continued low relative humidity, the ground will continue
to dry out at a rapid clip. This will markedly increase the fire
danger through the week. A Red Flag Warning is once again in
effect for this reason.
Speaking of abnormally warm, we have reached the low 70s today
so far. Our morning low was 58F degrees, which will establish
a new record high minimum for the date if it holds (we probably
get a new record either way). The previous record was 50F set
back in 1955 and 2017.
The wind has been quite gusty all day out of the northwest to
north-northwest. The peak gust so far is around 45mph. The
average speed for the day so far is around 16mph.
Visibility has been excellent all day running between 70-80
miles.
The high so far today is 71F, which is 16F degrees above the
normal maximum of 55F. The low since midnight is 58F degrees,
which is 21 degrees above the normal minimum for the day of 37F.
