PERIODS OF RAIN OVERNIGHT INTO THIS MORNING, MILDER…

Periods of rain moved through overnight leaving 0.22″ of water
in the gauge by 7am. An additional 0.09″ fell between 7am and
10am. The rain tapered off just after the 10am observation, and
have so far been left with clouds and dense fog. As a matter
of fact, visibility has been very low here on the summit today
thanks in part to the snow cover sublimating into the moisture
rich air. Visibility has been as low as 1/16th of a mile.

The temperature has been slowly rising through the mid to
upper 30s.

The wind has been fairly light today with the average speed so
far of around 9mph. The peak gust so far today is only around
20mph.

The high so far today is 38F, which is 2 degrees below the normal
maximum of 40F. The low since midnight is 34F degrees, which is
11 degrees above the normal minimum of 23F.

As we start to compile stats for meteorological winter (Dec-Feb),
we are able to share at this moment that winter 2022-23 was the
4th warmest on record. Here is a list of the rankings provided
by our Chief Scientist Mike Iacono.
