DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
MONDAY, JULY 2, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME
MILDER THAN YESTERDAY BUT STILL ANOTHER HAZY, HOT,
AND HUMID DAY ATOP GREAT BLUE HILL…
Temperatures continue to be well above normal after two
days of high temperatures 90F or above. Yesterday’s max
temperature of 94F was 4 degrees shy of the record of 98F
set in 1964. Yesterday’s minimum temperature of 72F ties
for a record high minimum originally set in 1968.
Temperatures have been lower today than the past couple of
days with a max so far of 85F, this is still 6F degrees
above the daily normal of 79F. The wind has been light,
from the ESE, and shifted at midday to coming from the NE.
This allowed for a still light but cooler breeze giving a
mild relief from the heat.
The sky was clear and cloudless in the morning and a few
cumulus clouds formed in the afternoon. A thick distant
haze lingered in the area limiting visibility to 40-30
miles at each observation. Humidity was still high today
with dew points close to 70 for most of the day.
