BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS
ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA

DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
THURSDAY, JANUARY 23, 2020
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

INCREASING CLOUDS AND A SOUTHWESTERLY BREEZE
WITH A TEMPERATURE INCREASE….

Almost clear skies this morning were overcast
by the 1 P.M. observation. Visibility was limited
due to a distant haze this morning, increasing from
30 miles to 65 miles during its dissipation.
Impressively, the observatory still has two inches
of snow depth from the event that happened 4 days
ago; despite abundant sunshine in the five days prior.

A consistent southwesterly wind signals the approach
of a warm air mass, boosting temperatures above
seasonal averages. The high so far today is 43F,
9 degrees above the normal high of 34F. The low
since midnight is 24F, this is 7 degrees above the
normal low of 17F.
