WARM AND HUMID WEATHER CONTINUES…
After yesterday’s exciting weather conditions on
Blue Hill, from the complete undercast in the
morning to the severe thunderstorm that brought
a strong wind gust, hail, and torrential rainfall
in the late afternoon/early evening, today so far
has been quite tranquil!
To recap the events of yesterday, the severe storm
brought a wind gust to 60 mph from the WNW at 4:46 P.M.,
estimated penny sized (0.50″ diameter) hail, and
heavy rainfall totaling 2.21 inches.
We also broke or tied a few records yesterday;
First we set a new record high temperature for the day
of 89 degrees. The previous record was 88 degrees set
in 1918, 1947, 1949, and 1996.
We broke the rainfall record for the date with 2.21″.
The previous record was 2.09″ set back in 2010.
Lastly we tied the peak wind gust record for the date
with 60 mph, which also occurred back in 1940!
Today so far has been very quiet with varying amounts
of cloud cover mixed with sun. Humidity levels has been
quite high with dew points hanging around in the upper
60s and low 70s, making it feel pretty uncomfortable
outside.
The wind has been very light most of the day, only
averaging around 6 mph since 7 A.M. The peak gust
so far has only been around 17 mph.
The high so far today is 86F, 8 degrees above the
daily normal maximum of 78F. The low since midnight
is 67F, which is 6 degrees above the normal minimum
of 61F.
