A DECENTLY ACTIVE WEATHER DAY FOLLOWING HENRI’S DEPARTURE….
Tropical storm Henri moved through southern New England yesterday,
bringing periods of rain and gusty winds to the region. Today there
are two confirmed tornadoes formed off the back of this system.
The location of the first seen tornado was in Marlborough, while the
other was seen in Acton.
The sky was obscured due to a fog this morning that dissipated, leaving
some pretty magnificent towering cumulus clouds. Visibility went from
an 1/8th mile this morning to 40 miles by the 1 P.M. observation.
The storm total rainfall from Henri was only 0.78 inches, and the
peak gust for the storm was a much lower than expected 47 mph. Total
rainfall on the month is currently 4.17 inches, which is an inch and
a quarter above normal. The annual rain total is 39.14 inches, 5.86
inches above normal for the last month of summer.
The max gust was 47 mph for yesterday, beating the old record of 44 mph
set in 1987!
The high so far today is 81F, 2 degrees above the daily normal maximum
of 80F. The low so far today is 69F, which is 7 degrees above the daily
normal minimum of 62F.
