POWERFUL ATLANTIC STORM PASSING SOUTHEAST OF
CAPE COD BRINGS HEAVY SNOW AND BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
THERE WITH WIND GUSTS OF OVER 80 MPH AT NANTUCKET
A SCANT DUSTING OF WINDBLOWN SNOW HERE AT THE SUMMIT
WINDS GUSTS PAST 50 MPH THIS MORNING FROM N-NNW

A rapidly deepening coastal storm formed off the
coast of the Carolinas yesterday with its center
passing southeast of Cape Cod. Heavy snow and
blowing snow with N winds gusting over 60 MPH
on the Cape and over 80 MPH on Nantucket was
considered a very strong nor’easter.

Here at Blue Hill winds swung into the east-
northeast then northeast last evening and began
increasing after midnight while backing to north and
north-northwest this morning. Peak wind gusts
were over 50 MPH a few times with 53 MPH N at
8:12 A.M. and then 54 MPH NNW at 11:08 A.M. EDT.

Only a scant dusting (0.1 inch) of snow fell and soon
evaporated or was blown away after 8 A.M. EDT.
Intermittent very light snow then continued the
rest of the morning.  There was no measurable
amount of liquid from the snow.
