Blue Hill Observatory Windows Vandalized, Weather Record Undamaged

Overnight on June 30, three windows at Blue Hill Observatory were broken by rocks in an act of vandalism. State Police are investigating. The Blue Hills Ski Area lodge was also hit the same night.

The observatory closed temporarily as a precaution. The 141-year continuous weather record, the longest in the Western Hemisphere, was not damaged and daily observations continued without interruption.

The incident drew coverage from television, print, and radio outlets across Greater Boston. Coverage below.
