OVERCAST AND COOL TODAY WITH PATCHY DRIZZLE AND FOG….
A backdoor cold front slipped through overnight bringing a
gusty east wind and some drizzle to the Hill during the wee
hours of this morning. Since then, the drizzle has been patchy
and the fog thinned out enough to allow the visibility to get
up to around 10 miles at times. Otherwise it’s been an overcast
and cool day with diminishing wind.
Temperatures were actually warmest around midnight when we were
in the upper 50s. Readings dropped to around 50F around 6am this
morning and have only recovered to the mid 50s through early
this afternoon. With the dew point also generally in the low to
mid 50s, the air has been nearly saturated throughout the day.
As mentioned, winds were gusty for a time during the wee hours
following the passage of the back door front. Since then there
has been a gradual decrease in speeds. The easterly flow has
been averaging at around 9mph for the day so far, however its
been closer to 6-7mph the past few hours. The peak gust for
the day so far occurred just after 3am this morning with a
speed of 25mph.
Visibility has been limited today due to patchy drizzle and
fog. The view has generally been 15 miles or less throughout
the day so far.
The maximum temperature so far today is 58F, which is 4 degrees
below the normal high of 62F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 50F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 45F.
