MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE TODAY, SEASONABLE TEMPS AND A COOL
NORTHWESTERLY BREEZE….
The cold front that pushed through the area yesterday left Blue
Hill with 0.23 inches of rain which puts the monthly total at
3.83 inches; which is 1.39 inches above normal for this day.
Even though it’s been a wetter month on paper, we are still
holding an annual deficit of -7.18 inches.
Yesterday’s rain and storms left some cooler and dry air behind it,
offering us an amazingly beautiful day on the hill! Temperatures
are just below normal with a cool north westerly breeze and much
lower and comfortable dew points. Skies have been relatively clear
with scattered cirrus to the east and a few altocumulus clouds
dotting the horizon throughout the day.
Temperatures dipped down to 57F early this morning which was
quite refreshing. As the sun began to heat the surface, the
temperatures rebounded to the upper 70s by the final observation.
Dew points started in the mid 50s and decreased slightly into
the lower 50s by the late morning and early afternoon. The dew
point is about 20F lower than it was this time yesterday and it
really feels so much better today!
Winds have been steady today, mostly out of the northwest. Winds
have started to decrease over the early afternoon hours. The
average so far today has been around 10mph. The peak gust so
far is 23mph, which occurred just before 9am this morning.
Visibility has been spectacular today with 80 miles throughout
the day before slightly decreasing to 70 miles. Visibility this
clear is a rare treat, and most of this thanks to the passing
of the cold front yesterday and the dry air mass overhead.
The maximum temperature so far today is 77F, which is 5 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 57F, which is 7 degrees below the normal low of 64F.
