INCREASING CLOUDS AND SOME DISTANT THUNDERSTORMS
IN THE AFTERNOON….
Today we observed a decent visibility of 65 miles
due to a distant haze. Clouds increased since this
morning, with some cumulonimbus being seen shortly
following noontime. Lightning was seen to the north
and west following the 1 P.M. observation. Wind has
remained northwesterly throughout the day, with a
max gust of 23 mph. We measured 0.01 inches of rain
since the 7 A.M. observation yesterday, as the observatory
was missed by yesterday’s afternoon thunderstorms to the
north and south. The high so far today is 75F, which is
four degrees below the daily normal of 79F. The low since
midnight is 63F, two degrees above the daily normal minimum
of 61F.
After a cloudy and cool spring, the first ripe blueberries
were observed in the enclosure on June 28th, which was
seven days later than the long term average date of June 21st.
This was the latest date on which the first ripe blueberries
were observed in the instrument enclosure since June 29th, 1982.
