VERY PLEASANT WEATHER FOR MID JULY WITH BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND COMFORTABLE HUMIDITY LEVELS…

Today has been a spectacular day, especially for mid July standards.
Plenty of sunshine has been the theme as the smoke layer aloft finally
moved out of the area. A rather brisk northwest wind has been ongoing
all day, but other than that, it’s been a very pleasant mid summer
day (on a weekend no less)!

Temperatures started the day in the mid 60s, but were slow to rise
through the morning thanks to strong cold air advection taking place.
Readings have reached the mid to upper 70s by early this afternoon,
but this is below normal for this time of year (normal high should be
in the low 80s). Dew point values have lowered into the low to mid
50s today which is making for a very comfortable day. As a matter of
fact is almost feels a bit fall-like out there with the brisk wind
blowing.

Winds were fairly steady overnight, then ramped up quickly this
morning as the cold air advection process started. A northwest
flow has been averaging at around 16mph for the day so far. Gusts
have been frequently exceeding 30mph, and occasionally exceeding
40mph. The peak gust for the day so far is 43mph, which has occurred
twice, once at 6:30am and again just after 9:30am.

Visibility is much improved today over yesterday thanks to the smoke
moving out and a lack of haziness. The view has been around 40-50
miles throughout the day so far.

The maximum temperature so far today is 78F, which is 4 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 66F, which is 2 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
