WARM AND HUMID WITH MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUN….
Today started with cloudy skies along with areas of fog. As a
matter of fact, the summit was in the clouds for a time early
this morning. Thereafter, the fog lifted leaving us with a lot
of clouds around, but with breaks of sunshine thrown in there
for good measure.
Temperatures are close to seasonal norms in the low to mid 80s
this afternoon, but with the dew point up near 70F, it is once
again quite muggy today.
Winds have been much more productive today than yesterday.
Despite the continued high dew point today, the breeze is
actually making it feel a bit better than yesterday. The wind
has generally been out of the south-southwest to south through
the day. The average speed for the day so far is around 12mph.
Gusts have more frequently been exceeding 20mph since about the
late morning hours with a peak gust so far for the day of 28mph,
which occurred just before noon-time.
Visibility has been gradually improving from around 20 miles at
the first observation to around 40 miles by the 1pm observation.
The obstruction to the view was fog early this morning, but then
transition to general haziness thereafter.
The maximum temperature so far today is 83F, which is 1 degree
above the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 68F, which is 4 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
