BRIEF SUN GAVE WAY TO CLOUDS AND A FEW LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS….
The sky was clear briefly this morning allowing for a very nice
sunrise, however clouds quickly moved in followed by mainly very
light rain showers. A mid level system pinwheeled around a larger
system well off to the northeast is responsible for the clouds and
showers. Clouds are trying to break early this afternoon, but with
a cold pool of air aloft, any sun will just help to re-develop
more cloud cover. The rainfall this morning has only amounted to a
trace.
Temperatures are much cooler than they have been with readings all
morning holding in the mid to upper 40s. The mercury has finally
pushed into the mid 50s early this afternoon, but this is still a
far cry from the 70s and 80s we experienced on Friday. It is also
a few degrees below normal levels for the date. Dew point values
have generally been in the 30s all day.
Winds continue to be on the busy side with a west-northwest flow
averaging at around 17mph for the day so far. Gusts over 30mph
have been fairly common today, with a peak gust so far of 43mph
occurring just before 12:45pm.
Visibility has been variable, starting the day around 50 miles,
then lowering with the rain showers to as low as 15-20 miles, then
recovering early this afternoon to around 60-70 miles.
The maximum temperature for today is 56F degrees, which is 5 degrees
below the normal high of 61F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 41F degrees, which is 1 degree below the normal low of 42F.
