HALLOWEEN DAY, BUT THERE’S NOTHING SCARY ABOUT TODAY’S WEATHER….
Skies have been clear all day with only some distant low clouds
mainly over the ocean, and some distant high clouds that have
been gradually encroaching from the south and southwest. It’s
a much cooler day than yesterday, but all in all it’s a great
mid fall day for all outdoor activities.
As mentioned, temperatures are much cooler today than the past
couple of days. We dipped to 40F early this morning, but have
only been able to recover to the low to mid 50s this afternoon.
The dew point had been holding in the low 30s most of the day,
but dipped into the upper 20s after the 1pm observation as the
air mass continues to dry out. This is setting us up for a rather
chilly evening for trick or treating, so make sure to dress
accordingly.
Winds started out on the gusty side as cold air advection
continued following the frontal passage of yesterday. Speeds have
diminished as we progress through the afternoon. It’s been mainly
out of the northwest and north-northwest, averaging at around
12mph for the day so far. The peak gust occurred early this
morning just after 7:30am at a speed of 31mph.
Visibility has been excellent all day with a crisp view of
around 80 miles!
The maximum temperature so far today is 53F, which is 3 degrees
below the normal high of 56F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 40F, which is 1 degree above the normal low of 39F.
