DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2014
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

AFTERNOON SHOWERS ON FRIDAY BREAK THE DRY SPELL,
WITH SIGNIFICANT RAIN ON THE WAY LATER THIS WEEKEND

Wind and clouds were on the increase by yesterday afternoon
with winds gusting to peak of 45 MPH from the SW by mid day.
Beginning at approximately 1:50 PM EST rain began on the hill,
falling off and on throughout the rest of the day and totaling
a mere 0.06 inches. With only 1.06 of precipitation so far for
the month of March, we are currently 3.99 inches below our
30 year norm. With significant rainfall on the way however,
monthly totals a far from being set.

While the sun has peeked through thin layers of overcast
for most of today, clouds have been on the increase once
more with altocumulus lenticularis visible throughout
most of the morning. Dew points have remained in the
upper 30s for most of the day as well, with thin fog
and haze limiting visibility in most directions throughout
the morning.

By 1:00 PM EST rain showers were distant ESE-WSW of the
station with a low stratus/nimbostratus layer beginning
to overtake the sky. Visibility was reduced to 25 miles
in most directions, with an exception of 50 miles
to the W-NNW. A maximum of 53F had been reached so far
as well.
