OVERNIGHT SHOWERS GIVE WAY TO SLOWLY CLEARING SKIES TODAY

A round of showers associated with a frontal system brought 0.06 inches
of rain to the summit before dawn this morning.  The rain had stopped by
the first observation at 7:00 EST, but heavy fog remained in place.  The
fog lifted during the morning, and clouds have gradually broken up as the
day has gone on.  Several layers of clouds have been present for much of
the day, with as many as four distinct layers observed.

After another cool morning low of 51F, the temperature has risen to 65F for
a high so far, which is well below average.  The first five days of June
have been more than ten degrees below average, in sharp contrast to our
record warm May.  Winds have been out of the NE again, and have been a
little stronger today after very calm conditions for the past few days, with
several gusts around 25mph.
