COOL TEMPERATURES AND LIGHT PRECIPITATION

Yesterday’s cooler temperatures made the first below normal day in over a week. A maximum of 75F occurred just after 2:00 P.M. EST, and a minimum of 56F occurred early that morning. The average temperature of 66F is 2F below the normal average temperature for June 22. Temperatures have been even cooler today. A maximum of only 66F was measured by the 1:00 P.M. observation, which is 11F below the normal maximum temperature for this time of year. Temperatures began to drop after this, as it was only 59F at 1:00 P.M.. The minimum so far for the day of 57F occurred just before 3:00 A.M..

Skies have been overcast all day, with layers of stratus and altostratus. There has been a trace of precipitation with short periods of very light rain. Visibility this morning was excellent at 70 miles, considering that there was distant fog. By 10:00 A.M., the visibility decreased to just 20 miles in most of the area. At the 1:00 P.M. observation, visibility was only at 5 miles due to fog and a light drizzle.
