WARMER AIR RETURNS TODAY ON GUSTY SOUTH-SOUTHWEST WIND

The wind began to blow out of the south yesterday evening, and this is helping
to draw much warmer air into New England. The temperature bottomed out at 24F
near midnight and began to slowly rise thereafter. So far today we have already
reached 51F. Skies have been mostly sunny to partly cloudy with mostly high
level clouds, allowing plenty of sunshine. An impressive sun pillar was observed
to the east near sunrise this morning. The southerly winds have been quite
strong for much of the day, averaging over 20mph with a peak gust of 43mph. The
direction has also shifted more to the southwest. The pressure has been
gradually falling after the high barometer readings of yesterday. The air has
been a little hazy today, with visibility limited to around 40 miles.
