THE NOR’EASTER CONTINUES, BUT LIGHTER RAIN AND WIND TODAY….
Our pesky nor’easter continues again today as we see the 4th
consecutive day of rain and wind. While conditions aren’t as
bad as they were over the weekend, we still remain waterlogged
with the continuation of light rain through the day today.
Rainfall amounts have been very impressive with a 4 day storm
total through 1pm this afternoon of 8.91″. We have exceeded 11″
for the month now which is nearly 3 times the normal amount for
September! Despite all of this rain, we however still have not
completely erased the annual deficit as it was still just over
1″ as of 7am this morning. We received 5.15″ for the calendar day
yesterday, which set a new daily record beating the old record
of 2.26″ set back in 1962!
Yesterday’s 5.15″ for the calendar day also ranked as the 5th
wettest September day on record. Here are the rankings as
compiled by our Chief Scientist Mike Iacono.

Temperatures have once again remained below normal thanks to the
continued overcast and rainy conditions. Readings have been stuck
mainly in the mid 50s so far today. Dew points have remained
equal to the temperature since the air has been fully saturated.
A north-northeast to northeast flow continues today for the 8th
straight day now. Again, they are not as strong today as they were
over the weekend, but remain persistent nonetheless. Winds have
been averaging around 16mph for the day so far. The peak gust for
the day so far is a modest 35mph, which occurred just before
4:30am this morning and again just before 1pm.
Visibility has been very limited again today, with the view
holding at around 1/4 of a mile all day.
The maximum temperature so far today is 56F, which is 12 degrees
below the normal high of 68F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 52F, which is 1 degree above the normal low of 51F.
