GRADUAL CLEARING TODAY AFTER SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL LATER YESTERDAY
AND OVERNIGHT….
The remnants of Isaias passed south of the region last night
bringing a pretty solid area of rainfall with it. Rain began
during the mid afternoon yesterday persisting through the
evening heavy at times. It then tapered to drizzle overnight
which came to an end this morning. 1.74″ of rain was measured
here at Blue Hill, most of which fell between 5pm-10pm
yesterday when 1.36″ was measured for that 5 hour period!
We started today with some lingering drizzle and dense fog, but
conditions gradually improved through the morning with a rather
nice day in progress by early this afternoon.
Temperatures are responding to the sunshine with readings into
the mid 60s early this afternoon. Dew point values are still
elevated however, rising through the 50s. So a decent amount of
moisture remains in the air.
Winds have been mostly on the light side, especially since about
8am this morning. A general northerly flow has backed to the
northwest early this afternoon. The average speed for the day
so far is around 9mph. The peak gust occurred in the wee hours
of the morning, just before 1am, with a speed of 28mph.
Visibility has greatly improved since early this morning when
it was only around 1/16th of a mile. By early this afternoon it
is up to around 70 miles!
The maximum temperature so far today is 66F, which is 3 degrees
above the normal high of 63F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 47F, which is 2 degrees above the normal low of 45F.
