DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
MONDAY, JULY 28, 2014
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

SEVERE WEATHER MOVES THROUGH THE REGION ONCE MORE,
BRINGING WIND, HEAVY RAIN, LIGHTNING AND A CONFIRMED
TORNADO IN REVERE

It’s been a busy weather morning in the Boston Metro
area and here at Blue Hill as storms strengthened and
moved NE. Only 0.10 inches of new rain fell as a thunderstorm
that began at 7:37 AM EST here at Blue Hill moved just to our
W moving NE. Both our RM Young and NWS ASOS anemometers
clocked 40 MPH from the SSE around 8:08 AM EST this morning
as the storm began to clear the summit.

A Severe Thunderstorm, Flash Flood and finally a Tornado
Warning were issued with this cell as it moved just N and W
of the city.

Fog that was in place since early this morning and was
reducing visibility to 1/4 of a mile lifted and cleared
following the end of the thunderstorm.
Since that time skies have been mostly to partly cloudy
with some CB and TCU visible at times in the distance.
At the time of this report a Severe Thunderstorm Watch
had been issued for a majority of interior New England,
including our station.
