POWERFUL STORM BRINGS A LITTLE SNOW, HEAVY RAIN, AND HIGH WINDS….

What a difference a day makes. After the rather tranquil conditions
yesterday, today has turned quite stormy with the worst of the
bad weather occurring this morning. Light snow developed between
1am-2am this morning accumulating to 0.3″ before mixing with and
changing to rain. Rain continued, heavy at times through mid morning
dumping over an inch of rain within a 8 hour period. 0.70″ was
measured at the 7am observation with another 0.44″ being measured
for the 6 hours following, giving us a storm total through 1pm of
1.14″!

In addition to the heavy rain, strong wind gusts were experienced
this morning; the peak gust occurred at 6:55am of 65 mph out
of the ESE! This is actually a new record peak gust for the date
beating the old record of 62 mph out of the S in 1994!

Frequent gusts over 50mph were measured this morning. After a brief
respite late morning, winds have increased again into this afternoon
gusting quite regularly over 40mph out of the SSW.

Breaks in the clouds developed early this afternoon allow for at
least some partial sunshine. However more showers are developing
over the region, thus we’re likely not done with the rain yet.

The high so far today is 46F, which is 12 degrees above the normal
high of 34F. The low since midnight is 31F, which is 13 degrees above
the normal low of 18F.
