HUMID WITH PERIODS OF RAIN, WIND, AND THUNDER….
A storm system with a trailing cold front is pushing across the
region today bringing with it periods of rain to the area
through the day. There have been a couple of thunderstorms as
well. 0.66″ of rain has been measured through 1pm, but another
area of moderate to heavy rain moved through after that.
Temperatures have of course been held down a bit today due to
the clouds and rain. Readings reached the mid 70s for a time
during the morning, but slipped back a bit to the low 70s by
early this afternoon. Dew point values have been in the low
70s all day, so it’s been quite muggy out there.
Winds have been quite gusty today out of the south to south-
southwest. The average speed for the day so far is around 17mph.
We’ve observed frequent gusts over 30mph throughout the day.
The peak gust so far for the day is 44mph, which occurred around
7:45am this morning.
Visibility has been limited throughout the day due to fog and
rain. The view was around 15 miles through the morning, but
slipped to under 1 mile early this afternoon as the cloud level
dropped down below the elevation of the summit for a time.
The maximum temperature so far today is 76F, which is 6 degrees
below the normal high of 82F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 69F, which is 5 degrees above the normal low of 64F.
