DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY
FRIDAY, MAY 4, 2018
ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME

TEMPERATURES BEGIN TO DROP AFTER TWO DAYS OF
CLOSE TO RECORD BREAKING HIGH TEMPERATURES…

We did break one record yesterday for high minimum
temperature of 67F. The record of 66F was set during
an early season heatwave back in 2001. Our high max
temperature of 90F was 2 degrees below the record of
92F also set in 2001. Our daily average yesterday was
26 degrees above the daily normal. So far today we
reached a lower but still above seasonable high of
80F. This is 17 degrees above the daily normal of 63F.
So far since midnight we have a record breaking high
minimum temperature of 67F, although this record will
not stand if temperatures drop below 66F before
midnight.
Rain showers began yesterday afternoon at 2:30 P.M.
EST and continued sporadically throughout the day.
Since yesterday’s showers began we have measured 0.18
ins. of rainfall.
Skies remained mostly cloudy today with a mixture of
clouds at each observation. Humidity remained higher
today than yesterday making for very sticky feeling air.
Wind has remained from the SW/SSW and was light midday
but has begun to pick up this afternoon. Visibility
was limited due to a distant fog today but improved
from 20 miles in the morning to 40 miles at 1:00 P.M.
