ANOTHER BLUSTERY DAY, PLENTY OF SUNSHINE AND WARMER TEMPERATURES
TO START THE WEEKEND….
The system that moved through yesterday only netted us an additional
0.01 inches of rain after the observation shift, giving us a daily total
of 0.06 inches of liquid precipitation and 0.1 inches of snow. We are
still at a deficit for the month at -0.54 inches of rain and -4.5 inches
of snow.
Cold air advection moved in behind yesterday’s storm, bringing cold, dry
air and therefore the temperatures have been slow to warm. Though we
started this morning just 5 degrees from our normal daily max, we have
only warmed about 10F more since then. With the added windy conditions,
the wind chill has kept us from feeling the warmth of the seasonable
temperatures.
Winds were steady out of the west for much of the morning, and then a
shift to the west-northwest during the mid-morning came with an increase
in speed. So far for the day we are averaging around 15mph with gusts over
30mph at times. The peak gust so far for the day is 41mph, which occurred
during the 9am hour.
Visibility was hindered this morning by clouds along the horizon, but
have since improved and we have had around 60 miles throughout the day.
The maximum temperature for today is 45F degrees, which is 5 degrees
above the normal high of 40F. The minimum temperature since midnight
is 34F degrees, which is 12 degrees above the normal low of 22F.
