Epic Winter of 2014-2015 Becomes Snowiest Season on Record
The unprecedented snowfall across New England from the last week of January through February continues into early March with additional light snowfalls. The latest brought 5.0 inches of new snow on Saturday, March 28th. There was also a total of 1.8 inches of snow on the 20th-21st of March. This brings the monthly snowfall up to 13.3 inches and the seasonal snowfall up to 150.8 inches. This surpasses the previous record season of 1995-1996, which brought 144.4 inches to Blue Hill.
The snow depth on the summit stands at 14 inches as of March 29th. With melting occurring as the temperature on most days rises above freezing, the liquid equivalent of water in all of the snow on the ground remains very high, but it is dropping.
