The Blue Hill Observatory is seeking individuals—with a passion for community service—to become volunteer tour guides. In this role, volunteers will give tours of the Observatory’s historic landmark weather observation station—1 of only 11 in the country. Volunteer tour guides will lead visitors through the Observatory, highlighting a 140-year continuous “Weather Observation Program,” along with the historic instruments used to collect weather since 1885. Volunteers in this role will be trained on a variety of tours and the Observatory’s expansive history. This volunteer opportunity offers flexible hours ranging from 3 to 12 hours per week, depending on your schedule and our seasonal needs. The Director of Operations will work closely with volunteers to create a schedule that is mutually beneficial. While there are opportunities for volunteer tour guides to support on weekdays, our opportunities and biggest need is weekends 10am – 4pm (anywhere from 3-6 hours).
