FIRST MEASURABLE RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH AND A RARE NOVEMBER
THUNDERSTORM!….
Rain has finally made an appearance, and our first measurable
precipitation for the month! As of 1pm EST we are at 1.06″ but
there was a light drizzle and still plenty of hours left in the
day. This morning also featured thunder and lightening which was
a surprise for many. November thunderstorms are pretty rare it
seems, as the last time we had documented thunder in November here
was back in 2021! For this year though, this is our first thunder
reported since August.
Thunder was heard in the early morning hours with the first batch
of showers, and then again during the mid morning hours (after 10am).
Since then, the rumbles have ceased, but we have still been getting
a bit of light rain.
Temperatures are still trending above normal, but with the rain
and overcast conditions we have managed to stay at 64F-65F since
midnight! Due to the rain and fog conditions, dew points have
matched the air temperature, and with that being considerably
warm for this time of year it has felt muggy instead of chilly.
Winds were steady during the early morning hours but have since
decreased with along with a wind shift. Winds were out of the
south-southwest for much of the earlier part of the day but early
this afternoon winds shifted to the southeast. The average speed
for the day so far is around 11mph, but trending lower now. The
peak gust so far is 23mph, which occurred before 12:30pm this
morning.
Visibility was around a mile early this morning after the first
round of showers moved away. Since then, we have been in the clouds
and have only had about 1/4 mile of visibility since.
The maximum temperature so far today is 65F, which is 11 degrees
above the normal high of 54F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 64F, which is 27 degrees above the normal low of 37F.
