STILL CAN’T SHAKE THE CLOUDS, BUT WARMER AND MORE HUMID TODAY….
Another day with very limited sunshine as the clouds just don’t
want to leave the region. A warmer and more humid air mass has
moved into the region however as an upper ridge builds over the
eastern U.S. for a couple of days.
The final monthly total precipitation for September is 11.53″.
This ranks as the 2nd Wettest September on record going back to
1885. Here are the rankings.
BHO Wettest Septembers, inches (1885-2026):
1) 12.37 1999
2) 11.53 2026
3) 11.04 1933
4) 10.23 1896
5) 10.00 1961
6) 9.62 1987
7) 9.58 1888
8) 9.36 1918
9) 9.25 2018
10) 8.81 1907
Temperatures are even milder today than yesterday with readings
reaching the mid 70s early this afternoon. This is of course
above normal for early October as the normal high should be in
the mid 60s now. It is more humid today as well as the dew point
has pushed into the mid 60s.
The wind was light throughout the morning hours, but has picked
up a bit early this afternoon. The flow has been mainly out of
west-southwest to southwest today. The average speed for the day
so far is around 10mph. The peak gust so far is 21mph, which
occurred just before 1pm this afternoon.
Visibility has been somewhat limited today due to thin fog early
this morning, and then haziness for the balance of the day. The
view has improved from around 20 miles early this morning to
around 40 miles by early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 74F, which is 7 degrees
above the normal high of 67F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 56F, which is 6 degrees above the normal low of 50F.
