A DECENT DOSE OF RAIN EARLY THIS MORNING, OTHERWISE ANOTHER
MAINLY CLOUDY DAY….
Rain moved into the area just before 3am and continued until
just after 7:30am. The rain did come down moderate to heavy
for a time with 0.28″ being measured in 1 hour between 3-4am.
The overall total amounted to 0.45″. While it didn’t do very
much to help the overall annual deficit (which still sits over
8 inches), every little bit of rain is still welcomed.
The rain moved out but low clouds and fog remained until the
late morning hours. Then the fog finally lifted, but the sky
remains on the cloudy side. A brief period of filtered sunshine
did make an appearance between 11am and noon.
Temperatures and dew points are higher today as we are now
ahead of a cold front. The temperature has reached the low to
mid 70s early this afternoon. Meanwhile, dew point values have
risen through the 60s and are currently in the upper 60s. So it
does feel rather humid out there this afternoon.
Winds were steady and gusty prior to 6am this morning, then
went quite light thereafter. The direction, which has been
variable at times, has made a gradual veering from the
southeast through southwest to northwest. The average speed for
the day is around 9mph, but it’s been generally less than that
over the past few hours. The peak gust for the day so far is
24mph, which occurred just after 3am this morning.
Visibility was quite limited during the morning with the summit
being in the clouds. The view was only between 1/8 and 1/4 of a
mile. It has improved to around 40 miles early this afternoon.
The maximum temperature so far today is 74F, which is 3 degrees
below the normal high of 77F. The minimum temperature since
midnight is 60F, which is equal to the normal low.
